f we’ve learned anything from Lassie, Old Yeller , and Scooby Doo , it’s thatdogs make for amazing heroes. The kinds of heroes that grab your heart, never let it go, and have you in torrential tears sooner that you can whisper, “Good boy. ”
One remarkable dog recently madeheadlines for enacting an unbelievable rescue mission that’s got us feeling all of those mushy gushy feels.
Oh, and did we mention that his dad caught the whole glorious rescue on video? He did and it’s magic.
Friends, meet Storm the golden retriever taking the Internet by… well… storm!
Storm lives on Long Island with his dad, Mark Freeley, and his Border collie sister, Sarah.
This past weekend, Storm leapt into action to perform a remarkable rescue and managed to steal nearly every heart in America doing it.
You see, Storm was out walking with his dad and sister when the trio spotted a brown blob floating in Port Jefferson Harbor.
Why, it was none other than a struggling, 3-month-old baby deer.
How did a baby deer end up paddling for its life out in Port Jefferson bay?!
That mystery unfortunately remains unanswered, though some hypothesize it slid down a sandy cliff.
Still, Storm didn’ t need answers to know how best to proceed.
Storm just dove.
Moments after Storm spotted the struggling animal, he leapt straight into the harbor.
His instincts just took over.
Freeley told CBS New York that once Storm spotted the fawn, he, plunged into the water and started swimming out to the fawn, grabbed it by the neck, and started swimming to shore.
Storm swam the struggling baby back to shore. Once they got there, though, the poor scared deer collapsed out of fear and exhaustion. Luckily, Storm was at the ready with just what the doctor ordered… kisses!
And even better for us, Freeley caught the whole magical rescue on video.
You guys have to see this. Yes, the rescue itself is amazing… but it’ s Storm’ s behavior directly after he pulls the fawn to safety that really had us swooning.
